May 26th, 2023 - The Detroit Fashion Community showcased “Fashion Through the Decades” as a part of the Black Indie Stream Film Festival Week at a red carpet gala held at the Detroit Historical Museum.

On May 26th the Detroit Historical Museum was transformed into an elegant fashion time portal with the rich history of our beloved city as the backdrop. The Black Indie Stream Film Festival week took place in Detroit, and the Detroit Fashion Community was honored to partner with BIFFA for ‘A Night At The Museum’ a fashion showcase and red carpet gala. Attendees danced the night away in the Allesee Gallery of Culture, the museum's signature exhibit and main location of the night’s events. The exhibition highlights the culture that all Detroiters recognize as our own — a distinct blend of influences, inspired by creativity and fueled by a passionate work ethic.

Guests enjoyed delicious food and premium libations from the evening’s curated cocktail menu in the “America’s Motor City” exhibit room, one of the museum’s newest permanent exhibits that highlights Detroit’s car culture, with displays and information on why Detroit became ‘the Motor City’, and how Detroiters — and Americans in general — view their cars as extensions of their personalities from bumper stickers to custom paint jobs to elaborate home garages, with a two-story operating assembly body drop from the General Motors Cadillac Division Clark Street Plant as the central fixture.

Across the gallery, the evening’s VIP experience was held in the Motor City Music Spotlight Exhibit: Mary Wilson where VIP guests were treated to complimentary champagne and exclusive souvenir gifts with the classic tunes of Mary Wilson filling the room.
