Born and raised in the vibrant city of Detroit, Chris Camper’s journey to becoming a highly respected attorney is a story of hard work, determination, and a commitment to giving back to his community. From watching the famous TV attorney Matlock as a seventh grader at Edgar A. Guest Middle School to earning accolades in the courtroom, Camper has turned his childhood aspirations into a thriving legal career.
Chris Camper’s roots in Detroit laid the groundwork for his passion for justice and community service. As a child, he played little league football for the Police Athletic League’s Dragons, an early testament to his teamwork and drive. At Thomas M. Cooley High School, he balanced academics and athletics with excellence—captaining the football team, serving as Vice-President of the National Honor Society, and being crowned Prom King before graduating in 2001.
These formative years shaped Camper’s sense of responsibility and leadership, traits that continue to define his career.
After high school, Camper attended Grand Valley State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies in 2005. His legal ambitions took him to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2010. His dedication and talent were evident early on; he earned the prestigious Book Award in the Trial Practice course, a recognition of his exceptional skill and understanding of the law. Camper passed the Michigan Bar Exam on his first attempt in 2010, a significant milestone that marked the beginning of a promising legal career.
As a personal injury attorney, Camper specializes in cases arising from motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and other acts of negligence. Inside the courtroom, he has developed a reputation as a tough negotiator who fights tirelessly for his clients. His passion for justice is deeply personal—it’s a reflection of his Detroit upbringing and the values instilled in him by his community.
“It just means ‘more’ to me,” Camper says of his work. This personal connection drives him to deliver results and ensure that his clients receive the compensation and justice they deserve.
Camper’s dedication to his community extends far beyond the courtroom. He is an active member of non-profit organizations focused on goal-setting and personal development for inner-city youth. He understands the importance of mentorship and “paying it forward,” using his success to inspire and empower the next generation.
Through his involvement in professional associations like the Michigan Association for Justice and the Detroit Bar Association, Camper continues to advocate for justice both locally and nationally.
Camper’s achievements have not gone unnoticed. He has been honored as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for multiple consecutive years (2013–2024) and was named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Up C Coming Lawyers” in 2017. These accolades highlight not only his skill as an attorney but also his influence as a leader in the legal community.
Chris Camper’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, education, and compassion. From a young boy inspired by television’s Matlock to an accomplished attorney making a difference in Detroit, Camper embodies the spirit of resilience and the importance of giving back.
Whether he’s securing justice for a client or mentoring a young person in his community, Camper’s mission is clear: to make a lasting impact. And with his drive and dedication, there’s no doubt he’ll continue to do just that.
