Dear Dr Sabrina,

I am a 66 year old man with 6 adult children. I am also a Veteran and have seen combat. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Let me say that I fully appreciate therapy as it has helped me greatly. However, I continue to struggle with my oldest son. He is angry about things his mom told him and he feels I abandoned him. I did leave his mother as I needed help with my trauma and I did Not want to traumatize them. I really felt it was best as I was not well. His view is totally crazy to me as he came to live with me at 16. I love my son and want a relationship with him. I think he should just forgive like I did my parents. I have stopped talking to him as I feel beat up on and disrespected.

My question is should I try to resolve our issue or just leave him in his feelings?
