Lisa Stolarski, the newly elected City Treasurer of Highland Park, won the November 5th election with an overwhelming 2,363 votes, demonstrating residents trust in her commitment to transparency and accountability—qualities the city has long needed. Lisa firmly believes that “transparency is an essential component of democracy, and transparency in municipal finance is crucial to ensuring Highland Park has a thriving and functional municipal government.”
A Highland Park resident for over a decade, Lisa is deeply passionate about her spirited community. She pledges that “Highland Park City Council and its residents will be regularly informed about the city’s income and expenditures. I will prioritize proper documentation of all accounting transactions requiring my signature and will report monthly at City Council meetings on key aspects of the City’s financial reports.”
Lisa holds a Master’s Degree in Community Economic Development, specializing in cooperative development, from Southern New Hampshire University, and a BA in Philosophy from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she also tutored ethics.
Her extensive background has equipped her to serve Highland Park effectively. One of her priorities is addressing the housing needs of seniors and preserving the city’s rich history.
Highland Park, once a uniquely beautiful, historic place known for the first paved mile of road, the assembly plant, “City of Trees “also known for their award-winning schools district back then, unfortunately now with mismanagement of the community and residents Highland Park, has suffered tremendously. Lisa is committed to ensuring things are done correctly and fairly, holding people accountable for their role.
Recently, she gathered with seniors in the community at the Woodward Bistro for the kickoff of the Bid Whist Tournament. Seniors from all over came to enjoy the event, which included complimentary luxury shuttle services, a delicious home-cooked meal, and entertainment that kept everyone engaged. It was a lively event with " lots of smack-talking" and fun for all.
Lisa presented the community with a plan for complete transparency, ensuring residents can access information and be involved in the betterment of their community.
“As Treasurer of Highland Park, communicating with taxpayers is essential to my role. I will use this entrusted position to keep taxpayers informed about the use of their tax dollars, as well as state and federal funds that come to our city through various programs. If I find this information difficult to access, which should be public record, I will inform Highland Park taxpayers and seek a remedy.”
Lisa would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to City Council Pro Tem Sharmaine Robinson for standing by her side, believing in her and protecting the citizens regardless of race, gender or belief.
