Story By Antisia
On November 21, singer-songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Tweet graced Detroit with her soulful sound, showcasing her versatility across genres. During her appearance on Live in the D, Tweet shared that her inspiration comes from life experiences and everyday moments like love, pain, and healing.
With an early sold-out show, fans from all over gathered eagerly, ready to experience a soulful night filled with Tweet's world-famous classics that we all adore.
The evening was hosted by Detroit’s very own queen of comedy, Shanie D, at the One Mic Comedy Club—a perfect warm-up filled with laughter.
Adding to the magic of the night, Detroit songbird and singer-songwriter Bevlove opened for Tweet with her newly released single, "Remember Me."
I had the opportunity to speak with both Tweet and Bevlove after the show. Here’s what they had to say:
BMM: Bevlove, opening for Tweet must have been an incredible moment. Was it everything you imagined? Can you share your experience?
Bevlove: Opening for tweet was a dream I had that I never even thought would come true. This showed me to dream bigger and believe the limit is actually beyond the sky. Tweet is one of the singers I modeled my falsetto after when her album southern hummingbird came out. I would sneak and play it way past the time I was supposed to be asleep on the lowest volume possible and hold my ear to the speaker. I just love her so much she meant so much to me as a little dark-skinned girl. And now her songs mean even more to me.
BMM: What was the highlight of the night for you?
Bevlove: The highlight of the night was gifting her with some Detroit swag from “Plugged In “and then we took a selfie and sang a little of Found a Place!!!
BMM: What do you think this show has sets for the culture and the Detroit's music scene moving forward?
Bevlove: I think Tweet just found out Detroit is one of her second homes! Also, by us selling out I feel like venues should know that people want live music all the time! Not just in the summer. Not just on weekends. In other large cities you can see live music any night of the week. It’s time Detroit compete.
BMM: Tweet, why did you choose Detroit for this show?
Tweet: Detroit feels like home to me. I love the love they show and the way they welcome me.
BMM: What was the highlight of the night for you?
Tweet: When I arrived and saw all the people who came out for me—that was the highlight. It feels so good to be embraced like this.
BMM: What’s to come and will you be back to Detroit?
Tweet: More music to come, more life experience and ways that God can use me. Detroit is defiantly a place I plan to come back to soon.
Antisia: Thank you so much for your time. I hope you know how deeply we Detroiters love and appreciate you—especially my sister and I, growing up in a household where we went to church seven days a week, you were the reason we fell in love with both gospel and R&B.
“Your voice has opened so many doors, showcasing its incredible diversity, and your courage to explore all genres of music paired with your life experience has inspires us. Thank you for embracing us, we will always cherish these moments. Love “ Bevlove & Antisia “
This unforgettable night celebrated not only Tweet’s legendary artistry but also the thriving talent and vibrant culture of Detroit's music scene.
